Hello everybody!

Después de varias semanas sin escribir, preparando exámenes varios, aquí estamos de vuelta con una fantástica y veraniega idea: un bolso de verano. Nada mejor para relajarse después de estas semanas de tensión.

After several weeks without writing, due to exam preparation, here we are again with an awesome and summertime idea: a summer handbag.

Mi tía encontró en su casa unas madejas de hilo de algodón, en blanco y turquesa, de la marca Sachenmayr (http://www.schachenmayr.com/) y como no iba a usarlas me las pasó. Con esos colores tan veraniegos, lo primero que se pasó por la cabeza fue hacer un sencillo bolsito de verano a ganchillo, según un patrón que localicé en Pinterest, concretamente aquí: http://mymerrymessylife.com/2012/03/crochet-seed-stitch-purse-free-crochet-pattern.html.

My aunt recently discovered some white and turquoise cotton balls, from Sachenmayr brand (http://www.schachenmayr.com/). She wasn’t going to use them, so she passed them to me. With such summer colours, my first thought was to crochet a simple summer handbag, following a pattern that I have found in Pinterest, concretely here: http://mymerrymessylife.com/2012/03/crochet-seed-stitch-purse-free-crochet-pattern.htm

Utilizamos un ganchillo de 5 mm para el bolso y uno de 4mm para las asas. Sobre este patrón modifiqué la combinación de colores y las asas.

We need a 5 mm hook for the bag and a 4 mm hook for the handles. I modified the colour pallette combination as well as the handles pattern.

Se empieza tejiendo el fondo o base del bolso

We begin crocheting the bag bottom or base

continuamos tejiendo en círculo y va tomando forma

we follow with a circular crocheting and it goes taking shape

A continuación, empezamos a tejer las asas, y para que queden más resistentes y se deshilachen menos, empleamos el algodón  catania de Sachenmayr, tejiendo con hilo doble.

Next, we crochet the handles, using double thread of Catania Sachenmayr Cotton, to make them more resistant and avoid fraying.

Posteriormente las cosemos al bolso y…

After that we join the handles to the bag and…

¡Listo! en un par de ratos lo tenéis terminado. Ahora solo falta buscarle un cierre…

Ready! You will have finish it in a short while. Now it needs only to look for a clasp…

Echando un vistazo entre los botones y cuentas que tengo guardados, me encontré este adorno de nácar que era parte de un coletero de mi hija…

Looking around through my buttons and beads, I found this perly ornament that some time ago was attached to my daughter’s hair clip…

y queda genial como cierre! Ahora sí que está acabado…

and it’s really cool used as a bag clasp! Isn’t it? Now the bag is really finished…

Como no tenía nadie que hiciera de modelo, nada mejor que un «selfie» en el espejo.

As I had no one to show the bag off, there’s nothing better than a mirror «selfie».
