Parece mentira pero ya ha llegado el mes de Mayo. Mayo en España es el mes en el que celebramos el día de la madre, las primeras comuniones, es el mes de la primavera y de muchas fiestas por todos los pueblos y ciudades de nuestra geografía.Un denominador común en todas estas fiestas son las flores. Todo vuelve a la vida, todo renace…Así estaban las flores de mi jardín este fin de semana…

It may seem incredible but the month of May has arrived. May in Spain is the month in which we celebrate Mother’s Day, the first Communions. It’s the Spring month and a lot of local festivities around our villages and cities. All of these have one thing in common: the presence of flowers. Everything blossoms and comes back to life. So were my garden flowers last weekend…

Por eso decidí hacer estos motivos a ganchillo, inspirándome en las flores, todos diferentes, y combinando colores suaves con otros más fuertes.Rojo, crudo, ocre, azul cielo, verde, rosa, beige, forman una delicada paleta para cada flor que es única.

I decided to crochet some patterns taking inspiration from flowers. All the patterns are different mixing up soft and strong colours. Red, ecru, ochre, light blue, green, pink and beige compose a delicate pallete for each and unique flower.

Después tejí unas hojitas con dos formas distintas, y pegué la flor y las hojas en unos palitos de madera planos, utilizando un pegamento especial para tejidos. Para que no se estropearan al entregarlas, las envolví en bolsitas de celofán transparente¡Así han quedado de bonitas!

Next I crocheted some leaves using two different patterns and I glued them to some flat wooden sticks, employing a special glue suitable for fabric. In order not to ruin them during their delivery, I wraped them into transparent cellophane bags. And here’s the result!

CAZADORA VAQUERA VERSION 2.0/DENIM JACKET 2.0 VERSION

¡Hola amigos! ¿Cómo va vuestra semana? Yo ya estoy deseando que llegue la primavera y por eso, hoy os muestro como he actualizado y dado un personal toque de color a una cazadora vaquera.

Hello friends! How’s your week going? I wish Spring will finally arrive, so today I show you how I have updated and given a personal colour touch to a denim jacket.

Es una prenda ligera y muy versátil para esta época del año, pero tenía unas tachuelas en los bolsillos que no terminaban de convencerme, así que las quité todas.

It is a light and quite versatile cloth appropiated for this season. It had some studs in the front pockets that didn’t satisfied me, so I took them all away.

Para tapar aquellas tachuelas que no se podían quitar sin agujerear la tela y además dar una nueva vida a la prenda, empecé a pensar en un diseño hecho a ganchillo, mitad flor, mitad mandala, combinando tonos azules, rojos, blancos, oro viejo, beige,…dejando volar la imaginación…

I started to think about some designs to cover the studs that I couldn’t remove without damaging the cloth. Beisdes, I could even give a new life to my old jacket. I decided to crochet some patterns, half flower, half mandala. For this purpose, I used a pallette of blue, red, white, beige, golden colours, letting my imagination run free…

Y poco a poco fueron surgiendo estos originales diseños, tejidos con hilo de perlé.

Little by little, these original designs emerged crocheted with pearl cotton yarn.

Cuando ya tuve hechos todos los motivos, comencé a coserlos en los bolsillos de la cazadora, labor ardua, ya que la tela vaquera es muy gruesa y cuesta mucho traspasarla con la aguja. Poco a poco lo fui consiguiendo…

When I had finished all the designs; I began to sew them to the pockets. It was a tough process, because denim is a very thick kind of fabric, and it takes a lot of effort to pierce it with a needle. Gradually, I achieved it.

Para complementar, cosí también uno de los mandalas en la espalda de la cazadora, y este es el resultado final:

To complete the design, I also sewed one of the mandalas on the back of the jacket. And here you are the final result:

¿Qué os parece? Yo creo que ha quedado sobre todo muy original. Hoy mismo, aprovechando las buenas temperaturas, no he podido resistirme y la he estrenado.

Hoy os muestro mi particular homenaje a algunas personas que para mí son los verdaderos héroes de nuestra vida cotidiana. Las enfermeras, en este caso, la de mi centro de salud, deberían tener un reconocimiento y un aprecio especial. Dentro de lo difícil que es tener una enfermedad crónica, más aún cuando es tu hija quien la sufre, ha conseguido hacernos la vida más agradable. Por eso decidí diseñar y bordar este pequeño cuadro en punto de cruz para ella. La inspiración vino una vez más de https://www.etsy.com/.

Today I bring my particular tribute to some people that in my opinion are real heroes in our daily lifes. Nurses, specially the one in my health centre, should have the acknowledgement and appreciation of everyone. It’s difficult to deal with a chronic disease, even more when is your little daughter who is suffering from it. Despite that, she has managed to make our life more enjoyable. hoy os enseño un pequeño obsequio que le he hecho a un amigo mío. Mi amigo es ginecólogo y hace poco tenido que pasar por cirugía, aunque ya está casi totalmente recuperado. La idea se me ocurrió al ver la foto de su perfil de whatsapp; era una caricatura regalo de una de sus pacientes…

Today I bring you a little gift that I have done for a friend of mine. He is a ginecologist, and he has gone through surgery recently, though he is almost completely recovered. The idea of this project came to me while I was looking at his whatsapp profile picture. It was a caricature given by one of his patients…

Me pareció buena idea intentar hacer el mismo dibujo adaptándolo a punto de cruz. Con ayuda de mi aliado el «Pc Stitch» hice un gráfico y sobre la marcha lo fui ajustando algún detalle.

I thought it would be a great idea to design the same drawing but adapting it to cross stitch. I designed a pattern with the help from my favourite ally «Pc Stitch». I went on with several adjustments on the go.

PRIMAVERA GANCHILLERA / CROCHETED SPRING

Happy Easter everyone!

Espero que hayáis tenido unos estupendos días de descanso esta Semana Santa. Yo he aprovechado para terminar un «proyecto ganchillero» que tenía pendiente y además, con las buenas temperaturas de los últimos días, he hecho el reportaje fotográfico. Se trata de un jersey de ganchillo sin mangas, para verano, que me llamó la atención en uno de los números de verano del pasado año de la revista «Labores del Hogar».

I hope you’d have spent wonderful and restful days during the Easter break. I have used this free time to finish a crochet project. What’s more, with the mild temperatures from last days, I’ve managed to make several photographs of it. It is a summer sleeveless crochet sweater from «Labores del Hogar» magazine, that attracted my attention last summer.

EMPEZANDO

Aunque en la revista eligieron un color verde muy bonito, yo tenía bastante hilo de algodón de la marca Finca, un poco satinado en color crudo, que para el verano queda muy bien y además, así aprovecho este hilo que es de una gran calidad.

Though the publication chose a green yarn, I had plenty of cotton thread with satin finish in ecru shade from «Finca» brand. I decided it was ideal for summer time and I could make use of this high quality thread.

El jersey se empieza por el cuello que es de estilo barco y el punto empleado es calado formando rombos. Cuando llegamos a la sisa, tenemos que empezar los aumentos. Esta es la verdadera dificultad del jersey, pues las nuevas vueltas de aumentos tienen que coincidir con el dibujo de rombos que llevábamos.

The sweater is done beginning from the neck forming a bateau neckline, stitched mesh in diamonds design. When we reach the armhole, we must start to increase the number of stitches. Here we have the main difficulty of the project, because the increase rows have to match with the previous diamonds design we had.

Una vez terminada la sisa, seguimos con la labor hasta alcanzar la longitud deseada y terminamos con dos vueltas de punto bajo para afianzar el borde final. La espalda es exactamente igual que el delantero, así que tenemos que hacer dos piezas exactamente iguales. Por último, unimos las dos partes a punto de lado con ayuda de una aguja lanera.

When we have finished the armhole, we continue with our project until we reach the desired length. Then we add two more rows crocheted in single crochet stitch, in order to reinforce the end of the project. The back part is exactly the same as the front one, so we have to crochet two equal pieces. Finally, we join the two parts together with a special needdle for wool, using the side stitch.

Buenos días a todos,

después de una semana bastante ocupada, por fin puedo publicar esta entrada en la que os hablo de algo con lo que he disfrutado enormemente.¡Mis primeras clases y mis primeras alumnas de ganchillo! Esta nueva experiencia ha sido todo un reto para mi, ya que tenía dos alumnas con niveles totalmente diferentes. Mari ya tenía un nivel bastante avanzado y Belén nunca antes había hecho ganchillo.Pero gracias a la paciencia y buen hacer de las dos, creo que hemos obtenido excelentes resultados.

after a very busy week, at last I can publish this entry in which I talk about something I have really enjoyed. I have given my first crochet lessons to my first crochet pupils! This new experience has been a real challenge for me, because I had two very different syudents. Although Mari had an advanced level, Belén had never crocheted before. However, thanks to their patience and their good work, I think we have obtained excellent results.

En otras sesiones aprendimos a realizar «granny squares» o cuadrados de abuelita, muy útiles para tejer colchas, mantas, posavasos, bolsos…Nos ayudamos de esta revista que es un básico en la biblioteca de cualquier «ganchillera» que se precie.

During the next classes we learnt how to crochet granny squares. They are really useful to knit blankets, duvet, coasters, bags…We aided ourselves with this magazine, a real «must have» in every self-respecting crocheter library.

UN OSO AMOROSO/ A LOVING BEAR

Good afternoon friends,

Siempre es una alegría el nacimiento de un bebé en una familia y a mi me agrada felicitar la llegada de una niña, en este caso se llama Carlota, con una de mis creaciones.

A baby’s birth is always a real joy to the family. I love to compliment the arrival of the baby, in this case a girl called Carlota, with one of my designs.

Cada vez me encuentro más cómoda diseñando patrones de punto de cruz con el programa PC Stitch. Para este cuadro de nacimiento diseñé unas letras en color fucsia para el nombre de la bebé. Luego le añadí el motivo de un osito durmiendo, para el que me inspiré en un diseño de la revista «Labores del Hogar».

I’m becoming increasingly comfortable designing cross-stitch patterns with PC Stitch program. For today’s design I draw some letters in fuchsia shade to make the girl’s name. Then I added a sleeping baby bear pattern inspired by a design I had seen in «Labores del Hogar» magazine.

ENMARCANDO/FRAMING

Good morning everyone,

realmente me gusta mucho mostraros a través de este blog los pequeños y grandes proyectos que realizo. Es una gran satisfacción para mi poder compartirlos con vosotros desde el inicio del proyecto hasta que está terminado. Incluso a veces publico fotos de la entrega o de cómo quedan finalmente enmarcados.

Through this blog I really enjoy showing you the small and big projects that I develop . It is my satisfaction to share them with all of you, from the beggining until the end of each project. Sometimes I even publish some photographs of the delivery or how they are finally framed.

Hace algunas semanas os enseñaba el regalo que hice a mis padres por su 45 aniversario de boda, ¡ y ya lo tenemos enmarcado! Es muy importante elegir el marco en función de la personalidad de su dueño y de nuestro presupuesto, pero no debemos olvidar que también debe estar en consonancia con los muebles y el estilo de la habitación donde lo vamos a poner. Así ha quedado el cuadro:

Some weeks ago, I showed you my parent’s gift for their 45th wedding anniversary, and we have just framed it! It is essential to choose the frame according to the owner’s personality and the budget we have to frame it. Despite this, we must not forget that the frame has to be in keeping with the furniture and the style of the room where it is going to be placed. Here it is:

Aprovecho la ocasión para mostraros otro cuadro en punto de cruz recientemente enmarcado. Lo ha bordado mi madre y le ha llevado nada menos que dos años terminarlo, pero ha valido la pena. Es un paisaje de la campiña inglesa con un «cottage»¡Es una preciosidad!

I’d like to take this opportunity to show you another cross-stitch project that has been recently framed. My mum has embroidered it and it has taken her two years to finish it. It’s been worth it, though. The scene is a British countryside with a cottage in it. It’s gorgeous!

Podéis apreciar en este caso que se ha colocado un «passe par tout» en un tono acorde al cuadro además de un buen marco. Esto ha ayudado a resaltar mucho más la belleza de la labor. ¡Enhorabuena mamá!

In this case, you can appreciate that a «passe par tout» in a matching shade has been put around the picture, apart from an extraordinary frame. This has helped to highlight even more the beauty of the project. Congrats mum!

FLORES EN LA COCINA/ FLOWERS IN THE KITCHEN

Hi friends!

hoy os propongo un diseño propio realizado con el programa para ordenador «pc stitch», y posteriormente bordado en punto de cruz, para alegrar un poco vuestra cocina.

Today my proposal is my own design produced with the «PC Sitith» computer programme, and finally cross-stitched to enlighten your kitchen.

La idea surgió después de cambiar las ventanas de mi casa el pasado verano. Como las nuevas eran de tamaño diferente, tuve que adaptar las cortinas que tenía. Para que entrase más luz en la cocina, se me ocurrió confeccionar unos recoge-cortinas, bordados en punto de cruz, y decorados con una cenefa inspirada en el dibujo de mis cortinas. Lo primero fue realizar el diseño:

The idea came to me after renewing my home windows last summer. The new ones had a different size, so I had to adapt the curtains I had. To let more light come in, I thought about making some curtain holdbacks, embroidered in cross stitch, and decorated with a border inspired by the same decoration my curtains had. Firstly I drew the design:

Luego, compré un entredós blanco especial para bordar, y aseguré los bordes mediante un pespunte azul para que no se deshilachara.

Then I bought a special white border suitable to embroider on it and after that I held its edges sewing a blue backstitch to avoid the cloth from fraying.

A continuación fui bordando la cenefa que había diseñado. Para ello tuve en cuenta que cada uno de los recoge-cortinas tenía que llevar el dibujo orientado hacia cada lado de la pared.

Next, I went on embroidering the pattern I had designed. I took into account that each curtain holdback had to have the pattern orientated towards each side of the wall.

Cuando alcanzamos la longitud deseada, en mi caso han sido 8 macetas, confeccionamos un borde sencillo ajedrezado en azul oscuro.

When we reach the desired length, in my case it was 8 flowerpots, we sew a simple, dark-blue checked edge.

Para terminar, unimos los dos bordes con hilo blanco. También he hecho unas anillas de ganchillo blancas, para sujetar los recoge-cortinas a la pared con unas perchas adhesivas…

To finish our project, we sew the two edges together with a white thread. I also made two white crocheted rings, to fix the curtain holdbacks to the wall using some self-adhesive hooks…

ENSEÑAR DESDE EL CORAZÓN/ TEACHING FROM THE HEART

Hola amigos,

la semana pasada se celebró el día del maestro. Tradicionalmente coincidía con la celebración de Santo Tomás de Aquino y era un día festivo tanto para los alumnos como para los maestros. En la actualidad, ya no hay día festivo, pero en mi opinión deberíamos agradecer cada día a los maestros la excelente labor que hacen nuestros hijos.

En la mayoría de los casos, no sólo les enseñan lo que viene en los libros, sino también a enfrentarse a las distintas situaciones que la vida les va a plantear, educando en valores, con valores y desde los valores. Por ello, decidí realizar este proyecto para regalárselo a la maestra de mi hija. A ella le encantan las ranitas, así que con un poco de inspiración de Pinterest…

Last week we celebrated teacher’s day. Traditionally, it was celebrated on Saint Thomas Aquinas day and it was a public holiday for teachers and pupils. Nowadays, it’s not a public holiday. Despite this, we should thank our teachers every day for the excellent work they do with our children.

In the majority of cases, they don’t only teach what is written in the school books, but they also show them how to deal with the situations that life is going to present. They provide education in values, with values and from values. That’s the reason I’m doing this project, to thank my daughter’s teacher. She adores little frogs, and with a little inspiration from Pinterest…
